CLASSES
Yoga Basics focuses on the fundamentals of alignment and breathing. The class moves at a slower pace to allow participants to understand, experience and strengthen the foundations of their practice. No prior yoga experience is necessary.
Community Class is Vinyasa yoga class at a special, reduced rate: Just $10!
Vinyasa Yoga is a moderately-pace, flowing practice that links movement, breath and intention to create a strong, inspirational experience. In this class, the teachings of yoga are brought to life through readings, music and movement.
Participants should have a basic knowledge of yoga postures.
Yin Yoga reaches a deep level of experience through the use of long-held poses. The postures in this class are held for 5 to 10 minutes each, allowing muscular effort to give way to gravity--and complete surrender. The practice is meditative and intense. Through the use of props and mindful movement, this class is accessible to all levels.
Yoga for Parkinson's Disease is specially designed to increase flexibility, strength and balance, and improve posture and gait in PD patients. By using powerful breathing, meditation and relaxation techniques, students learn to fill in the gaps of unconscious movement with yoga's mindful, conscious awareness. The class is organized by the Parkinson Council and taught by Yoga Therapist Theresa Conroy. Registration and doctor's permission required. Next 10-week session begins Sept. 24, 2009.
Yoga for Stress Relief is a gentle, soft practice that focuses on the use of the breath to ease into postures with grace and attention to detail. This class heightens the depth of the yoga practice by increasing awareness of the body-mind-soul connection. The focus is on relieving muscle tension and quieting the mind. Appropriate for all levels.
