What our students say about us. . .
I was referred to Yoga On The Ridge by my Physical Therapist. I had just completed 8 months of intensive rehabilitation to overcome paralysis in the left side of my body - a result of MS. When I started yoga I as walking with a slight limp, was very stiff in my lower body, and developed blinding lower back pains when I walked more than a few hundred feet. i am now completing my ninth month of yoga and the quality of my life has been vastly enhanced.
I recently re-married. Yoga enabled me to dance at my wedding.

I've been going to classes at Yoga On The Ridge since it opened. Theresa's style really makes me feel safe and remember that yoga isn't a contest: I do what's best and right for me each time, and she supports that with detailed knowledge and a sense of humor.

Theresa thoughtfully articulates what's happening in your body as you enter the postures in a way that makes sense. I think the reason she is able to do this so well is because she has put in the time to figure out how to make them work in her own body, which may not have come so easily. With this self knowledge she comes back to her students and gives them this workable information by breaking it down and being clear.
She is continually learning with her own body and stays aware of new changes and information in the yoga world and is always there to pass it on to us, her students, so we can derive more while still remaining safe. It doesn't hurt that the music score she plays in classes is so good that sometimes i forget I am in yoga and just really enjoying the Playlist.

I have participated in the Yoga for Parkinson's class for a few years and have found the experience extremely beneficial as an adjunct in managing my symptoms, especially those related to balance, muscle tightness, gate and fluidity of movement. Furthermore, Theresa is a wonderfully talented, empathetic teacher who brings a positive, encouraging attitude toward coping with the challenges of Parkinson's.

Where do I begin to sing the praises for Yoga On The Ridge? I started with a Saturday morning beginner class with Theresa and I have not looked back! This studio is true to the slogan, "real yoga for real people." Every detail of movement is explained so everyone understands the why and how of each movement. Everyone is invited to participate; from experienced yogis to beginners. You don't even have to wear yoga clothes! I travel about 20 minutes to attend class here, driving by other studios, but it is so worth it.

For many years I had pain in my right knee when it was under a specific type of stress. Since attending Yoga On The Ridge classes with Theresa, I have been able to eliminate this pain by understanding what caused it and making the area around the problem more flexible. It is a comforting thing to know that you have the power to influence your own physical well being and I thank Theresa for giving me that gift. It is different from a standard exercise or physical therapy where the instruction is, "If you do this, it will fix or strengthen that." At Yoga On The ridge, it is more like,"Understand this and you will be able to do what you need to do it for yourself."

Being a Baby Boomer fighting an aging body, I kept hearing that yoga would be a good idea for me. And and again, i tried various yoga classes, only to wonder why it hurt, what i was doing wrong and being somewhat intimidated by many poses. Luckily, I was willing to try, yet again, when I heard about Yoga On The Ridge. I was immediately hooked - I finally "got it. Theresa's teaching style is warm, non-intimidating, invigorating and, inevitably, she always provides the exact cue that my body needs to safely achieve a pose. Her studio is inviting and her Playlists can be surprising!
