YOGA FOR PARKINSON'S

10 Thursdays

 April 8--June 10, 2010

$100 for the series

This 10-week session of hourlong yoga classes is specially designed to address the motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. The practice of specific yoga postures, breathing and relaxation techniques, improves flexibility, strength and balance. These classes will focus on movements to relax stiff muscles, improve posture, build core strength and relieve stress.

Yoga Therapist Theresa Conroy focuses most of her practice on applying the practice of yoga to neuromuscular and neurological movement disorder. This group class, the only one in Philadelphia, is supported by The Parkinson Council.

Are your shoulders all the way up by your ears? Do you experience chronic headaches or upper back stiffness? Are your knees creaky? Have you injured your shoulders? Is your posture kinked by many hours in front of the computer or steering wheel? Does your lower back feel stiff and tight?  

Join Yoga Therapist Theresa Conroy as she guides you through different areas of the body, helping you find and correct imbalances, fine-tune alignment and avoid injury through the use of you postures and stretching exercises. During these monthly Yoga Therapy sessions you will learn movements you can do at home to help regain movement, flexibility and strength.

Yoga + Beer: It's two of your favorite relaxations combined in a one-of-a-kind evening of fun..

Join Theresa for a rocking, Happy Hour Vinyasa Yoga Class, followed by a private tutored beer tasting hosted by her husband, Don Russell.

Russell is the nationally recognized Beer Reporter Joe Sixpack, author of two books and creator of the popular Philadelphia Daily News beer column. He is a founder of Philly Beer Week and an organizer of local beer festivals.

The hour yoga class will feature twists, forward folds and hip openers. After class, we'll gather for a tutored tasting of the beers of spring, notably, the rich and glorious flavors of Double Bock. Joe Sixpack will share stories about the history and flavor of the lively beers of the season.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

If you cancel within 24 hours of a workshop taught by Theresa or any regular studio teacher, receive full credit for future classes/class cards.

(Exception: Happy Hour Yoga)

Cancellations for events taught by guest teachers require 1 week notice for full refund.
